Paraglider trim check and re-trim

Paraglider lines shrink with use, so over time your wing moves away from the shape it was certified in. We measure your line lengths and symmetry against the manufacturer’s figures and re-trim the wing so it flies as designed again.

Why lines go out of trim

Modern paraglider lines shrink over time with heat, moisture, load and age. Different line types and positions shrink by different amounts, and brake and rear lines often shrink the most. As they shrink, the wing’s shape changes. It can fly slower, launch less cleanly or react differently in turbulence, and it no longer matches the wing that was tested for its EN certificate.

Why symmetry matters too

The left and right sides of the wing need to match as well as meet the spec. If one side shrinks more than the other, the wing can pull to one side, turn more easily one way, or react unevenly to a collapse. We check every line against its partner on the other side, not just against the chart.

Signs your wing may be out of trim

  • Slower than it used to be, or slower than friends on the same model
  • Harder to launch, or one side comes up first
  • Pulls to one side in straight flight
  • Brake travel feels shorter than before
  • Flown a lot in hot, wet or salty conditions (coastal soaring, parakiting)

What we do

  1. Measure every line to the manufacturer’s trim chart under the specified load
  2. Compare it with the published figures and tolerances, and left side against right
  3. Adjust the lines back to spec using the manufacturer’s method (loops at the maillons, or replacement lines where loops won’t do)
  4. Your report shows the trim state before and after (for example poor, good or excellent), plus the loop changes we made

Common questions

How often should a paraglider be re-trimmed?

Follow your wing’s manual. Some manufacturers recommend a trim check after the first flying hours, then at every service.

What if my wing is out of trim on a trim-only check?

We re-trim it to the manufacturer’s spec for an extra £25, so it goes back to you flying as designed.

Can I trim my own wing?

Some manuals allow adjustment with loops. You need accurate measurements under load to know which lines to change, so start with a trim check.

Will a re-trim change how my wing handles?

It brings the wing back to how it was designed to fly.

Do you trim paramotor wings and parakites?

Yes. See our paramotor wing service and parakite service pages.
