FAQs
Common questions
How often should my wing be serviced?
Follow your manufacturer’s interval, which is usually every 1 to 2 years or after a set number of flying hours. Get it checked sooner after a tree landing, a sea landing, or a hard crash.
What’s the difference between Standard and Full Service?
Both include a porosity check, a Bettsometer fabric strength test, a line strength test if required, a line damage check and trim measurement, and you get a service report. The Full Service adds a full glider inspection and a detailed inspection report, which is ideal if you’re selling.
Will you do repairs without asking?
No. If we find damage, or lines that need replacing, we’ll phone or email you with the price first. Re-trimming is part of the service: if your wing is out of trim we re-trim it so it flies as designed, and the price goes up by £25.
Do you replace lines that pass testing?
We don’t run unnecessary tests or replace lines that don’t need it. We’ll explain what we found.
How long will it take?
We book your kit into a specific week, and it’s usually back in the post by the end of that week.
Do prices include VAT?
Wingtrim isn’t VAT registered, so there’s nothing to add. The price you see is the price you pay.
How do I pay?
We email an invoice when the work is done. You can pay by bank transfer, card or cash.
Can I learn to pack my own reserve?
Yes. We hold BHPA parachute packer licences and can show you how. Get in touch to arrange it.
Do you work for clubs and schools?
Yes. We service and repack kit for clubs and schools as well as individual pilots. Contact us to arrange several items at once.
